Update to Membership: In Kyung Kim Safe Sport Matter

Dear Taekwondo Ontario Members,

At Taekwondo Ontario, the safety of our athletes and the integrity of our sport are our top priorities. Over the past few months, we have diligently worked to revamp our policies to align with best practices and have engaged a truly independent third party to handle any complaints or allegations brought forward.

In keeping with these priorities, we believe it is our responsibility to share the available information regarding the former President of Taekwondo Ontario, In Kyung Kim, to the extent permissible.

Canadian Taekwondo Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs) were informed that In Kyung Kim has completed both his provisional suspension and suspension as of March 22, 2025. As such, those suspensions are at an end.

Based on the publicly available information to members, we note that the Safe Sport section of our National Sports Organization (Taekwondo Canada), under Suspension Notices, states that certain restrictions continue to apply:

“In Kyung Kim has been permanently banned from holding office as a Director of Taekwondo Canada or a National Committee, as a Director of Taekwondo Ontario or a Provincial Committee. Mr. Kim is also permanently banned from any office or committee with a member organization (PTSO’s) of Taekwondo Canada.

For more details, please refer to the notice available at the following link:

We remain committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all our athletes and members.

Regards,

Master Tong
