Taekwondo Ontario Athletes and Coaches Selected for the 2025 FISU World University Games

Toronto, ON – July 14, 2025

Taekwondo Ontario is proud to recognize the athletes and coaches from our province who have been selected to represent Canada at the 2025 FISU Summer World University Games, taking place in Essen, Germany from July 17 to 23, 2025.

These individuals have demonstrated excellence, commitment, and leadership in the sport of Taekwondo and will now represent both Ontario and Canada at one of the world’s premier university-level competitions.

Ontario Athletes Representing Team Canada:

 

Kyorugi (Sparring)

  • Leonarda Andric – Women’s -67 kg (Ottawa)
  • Nithan Brindamohan – Men’s -54 kg (Vaughan)
  • Sarangi Brindamohan – Women’s -46 kg (Vaughan)
  • Yohan Chang – Men’s -63 kg (Vaughan)
  • Sophia Fokas – Women’s -53 kg (Richmond Hill)
  • Rachel Fountain – Women’s +73 kg (Wellesley)

 

Poomsae (Forms)

  • Kai-Hsin Chang – Men’s Individual and Team (Toronto)
  • Emma Chau – Women’s Individual and Team (Markham)
  • Ethan So – Men’s and Mixed Team (Richmond Hill)
  • Evelyn Wu – Women’s and Mixed Team (North York)

 

Ontario Coaches Representing Team Canada

  • Master George Koh – Kyorugi Coach (Ontario)
  • Master Ri Seong Kang – Poomsae Head Coach (Ontario)

 

We are honoured to have ten Ontario athletes and two outstanding coaches selected to be part of Team Canada. Their inclusion reflects the strength and depth of Ontario’s high-performance Taekwondo community.
